UK –> France: This isn't a European trip, we're just passin' though towards the more exotic ... Besides, both of us have toured France extensively in the past. And we love it; as well, we both speak French.
Regardless we didn't linger, just crossed from UK, via the Chunnel, an underground half-hour train ride where you stay with your vehicle, landing in the not-worth-stopping at Calais, France [map].
The Chunnel is the fastest-easiest-cheapest way across, versus many ferry options.
After a night at the nearest inexpensive hotel in Calais, we rode the fast freeway 250 km up to Brussels ... [map route link].

We also passed through France again briefly, en route to the Black Forest in Germany. But we didn't linger.
